Quick answer
Car rental in Aguascalientes comes with a schedule almost nobody checks: the airport's. According to GAP, its taxis run from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the rental desks close between 10 and 11:30 p.m. Today KORU has no vehicles listed in the city; to hear from us if that changes, leave your email on the destinations map at korurent.com. Calvillo is about 50 km away, and during the San Marcos Fair the city fills up.
Do you need a car in Aguascalientes, or can you walk?
Downtown, walking is enough: you can get from Plaza de la Patria to the Jardín de San Marcos on foot. You need a car if you're coming to work in the Ciudad Industrial, south of town on Federal Highway 45, or if you're heading out to Calvillo, the reservoir or the towns up north. On KORU there are no providers with cars listed in Aguascalientes, and no car rental with delivery to the airport or your hotel.
Car rental in Aguascalientes from the airport
Lic. Jesús Terán Peredo International Airport is 24 km south of the city, on the Panamericana highway, according to Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP); downtown is 25 to 30 minutes away. The two taxi stands wait at the terminal exit, across from the parking lot. If you want to rent a car at Aguascalientes airport, the desks are in the corridor next to arrivals: compare them there against the Profeco checklist in the last section.
Heads up
If you land after 10 p.m., don't leave it until you arrive: ask the place you're staying to send a taxi for that time, or have the rental company confirm in writing that its desk will wait for you. During the fair, even more so.
Calvillo, the Wine Route and the Pueblos Mágicos
Aguascalientes has four Pueblos Mágicos, Mexico's officially designated Magic Towns, according to the state Tourism Department, and by car each one makes a day trip. To the west, Highway 70 takes you to Calvillo, and along the way you hit the Ruta del Vino, the wine route: the same department counts more than 19 wineries and vineyards and 1,300 hectares of vines. To the north, in San José de Gracia, you reach the Cristo Roto by boat. Our take: Calvillo first and the winery on the way back, after lunch; the tasting is for whoever isn't driving.
“Of all the day trips, the Cristo Roto is the only one that doesn't end at the car: you leave it on the shore of the reservoir and cross to the statue by boat. Factor that crossing in when you plan the day.”

San Marcos Fair: dates, traffic and where to park
The Feria Nacional de San Marcos is the peak of the year: the 2026 edition ran from April 18 to May 10, according to the official program of the Patronato, the fair's board, which publishes each edition on feriasanmarcos.com. The fairgrounds are in the Barrio de San Marcos, between downtown and the west side, and during those weeks the area fills up. If your trip falls on those dates, look for lodging with parking within walking distance of the Barrio de San Marcos: the car only comes out for Calvillo or the reservoir, and you walk to the fair.
Desk or agency: Profeco's checklist for renting
Before signing with any rental company in Aguascalientes, look up its contract in the Registro Público de Contratos de Adhesión of Profeco, Mexico's consumer protection agency, to see whether it's registered; the rest of its list is below. Our advice, with Highway 70 and the trips north in mind: film the outside of the car and the dashboard showing the mileage before you drive off, and ask whether the contract has a daily mileage cap.

Frequently asked questions
No. Today no provider has vehicles listed in Aguascalientes, and we're not promising there will be. If you want to know whether that changes, leave your email on the destinations map at korurent.com.
With KORU, not in Aguascalientes: there are no vehicles listed in the city or at its airport. Today there are only listings in Puerto Escondido, and there, delivery to where you're staying or to the airport depends on the vehicle and the provider; the cost varies by location and the team confirms it beforehand.
As of October 2026, the Patronato hasn't published the 2027 dates on feriasanmarcos.com. The 2026 edition ran from Saturday, April 18 to Sunday, May 10, according to its official program. Once the dates are out, book your hotel early.
You can, but you'll spend more time driving than sightseeing: Calvillo is to the west, on Highway 70, and San José de Gracia is to the north. Better to take two days; how to plan each one is in our guide From Aguascalientes to Calvillo and the Wine Route by car.
Your valid driver's license, from Mexico or another country: it's the only document required. You confirm your email with a 6-digit code, pay the total by card or Apple Pay, verify your license online with a selfie and sign the contract.
The deposit isn't a charge: it's a hold on your card, which can be a different one, and you authorize it on the day of delivery. The amount depends on the vehicle and you see it before paying. It's released after the vehicle is checked on return, if there's no damage or pending charge; then your bank may take a few days.
If a provider lists cars in Aguascalientes, they'll show up on the city's rental page, and if you leave your email on the destinations map at korurent.com, we'll let you know.
