1. Who we are

KORU is a trade name operated by Diego Jiménez Olivera, an individual engaged in business activities (hereinafter, “KORU”), through the website korurent.com and its subdomains (the “Platform”).

  • RFC: JIOD060718UP4
  • Tax address: Marie Curie 305, Reforma y FFCC Nacionales, Toluca de Lerdo, Estado de México, C.P. 50070
  • Operational headquarters: Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca
  • Email: legal@korurent.com · Phone: +52 55 4443 2191

These terms apply to visitors and to individuals who rent a vehicle (“Customers”). Those who offer their vehicles on KORU (“Partners”) and those who participate in the referral program have their own terms, published in the Legal section of the site.

2. Acceptance and changes

By creating an account, making a booking or listing a vehicle, you accept these Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Notice and the Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, we ask that you not use the Platform.

When we modify these terms, we will publish the new version with its date. If the change is material, we will inform you by email or within your account and ask you to accept it again. Bookings already paid for are governed by the terms and the rental agreement in force at the time of payment.

3. What the Platform offers

KORU allows you to browse available vehicles, book them, pay for them online, sign the rental agreement electronically and track the handover and return.

Vehicles may belong to KORU’s fleet or to a Partner. Each listing and the rental agreement indicate who provides the rental service. When the vehicle belongs to a Partner, KORU acts as an intermediary: it operates the Platform, collects payment on the Partner’s behalf and manages the booking, but the Partner is responsible for handing over the vehicle in the advertised condition.

4. Account and identity verification

  • To create an account, you must be at least 18 years old. Some vehicles require a higher age, which is indicated in their listing.
  • You may sign up with your email address or with your Google or Apple account.
  • Before receiving a vehicle, the Customer must verify their identity with a valid official ID, their driver’s license and a liveness check. This verification is performed by Didit, our specialized provider, with your express consent.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that your data is accurate and for keeping your password confidential. We may suspend accounts with false information, fraudulent use or breach of these terms.

5. Bookings, prices and payments

  • Prices are displayed in Mexican pesos. You may view an approximate conversion into other currencies; the charge is always made in pesos.
  • Before paying, you will see the full breakdown: rental rate, VAT, home delivery charge (if you choose it) and security deposit.
  • While you complete the payment, the vehicle is held for a limited time. If the payment is not completed, the hold is released.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. KORU does not receive or store your full card number; it only retains the last four digits and the payment status.
  • The booking is confirmed when the payment is approved and you receive the confirmation by email.
  • If you require an invoice (CFDI), you may request it with your tax information.

6. Security deposit

Each vehicle has a security deposit, the amount of which is indicated before payment. The deposit is temporarily held on your card and is not a final charge.

When you return the vehicle, the deposit is released if there is no damage, no missing items and no pending charges. If there are, only the corresponding amount is applied against the deposit, supported by the inspection evidence, and you are informed of the details. The time it takes for the release to be reflected by the bank depends on your card issuer.

7. Rental agreement and electronic signature

Each rental is formalized through a rental agreement that you sign electronically on the Platform. To provide certainty as to its date and content, the agreement is retained with a preservation certificate in accordance with NOM-151-SCFI-2016 (Mexican Official Standard on the preservation of data messages), issued by a certification service provider.

Once signed, the agreement cannot be modified or deleted; subsequent changes are documented separately. You may download your agreement from your account.

8. Handover, inspection and return

  • At handover and at return, an inspection is carried out with photographs of the vehicle, the mileage and the fuel level. The photographs are recorded in your booking and you may request them at any time.
  • Check the vehicle when you receive it and report at that time any issue that has not been recorded.
  • You must return the vehicle on the agreed date, time and place, in a condition similar to that in which you received it. Delays, extraordinary cleaning or missing fuel may give rise to charges, as set out in the rental agreement.

9. Cancellations and refunds

  • You may cancel from your account as long as the rental has not started.
  • Upon cancellation, part of the total you paid for the booking (the amount shown on your receipt) is charged, depending on how far in advance of the vehicle handover time you cancel: 25% if you cancel 72 hours or more in advance; 50% if you cancel 24 hours or more, but less than 72 hours, in advance; and 75% if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance. The remainder of the amount paid is refunded to the same payment method.
  • If you do not show up to receive the vehicle and did not cancel before the start time, 100% of the total paid is charged.
  • Once the rental has started, any change or early termination is handled with our team and is governed by the rental agreement.
  • Details are set out in our Cancellation Policy.
  • If KORU or the Partner cancels the booking, you are not charged anything and the total amount paid is refunded to you.
  • The refund may take 5 to 10 business days to be reflected, depending on your bank.

10. Customer obligations

  • Hold a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle.
  • Use the vehicle only within the permitted areas and in accordance with the law and traffic regulations.
  • Not lend or sublease the vehicle, or allow it to be driven by persons not registered in the rental agreement.
  • Not drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances, or use the vehicle for unlawful purposes, racing or paid transportation.
  • Pay the fines, traffic violations, tolls and charges incurred during the rental.
  • Immediately notify KORU and, where applicable, the authorities in the event of an accident, damage or theft.

11. Insurance and damage

Each rental is covered by the policy or certificate of coverage issued by KORU’s associated insurer, authorized by the Comisión Nacional de Seguros y Fianzas (Mexican National Insurance and Surety Commission). KORU is not an insurer: the coverages, exclusions, sums insured and deductibles are those set out in the policy, and they are summarized in the vehicle listing before payment.

  • The deductible is borne by the Customer and is covered first by their deposit.
  • Damage not covered by the policy, or caused by a breach of these terms, is borne by the Customer up to the limits of the rental agreement.
  • If there are differences between the handover inspection and the return inspection, you will be shown the evidence before any charge is applied and you may submit your comments.

12. Partner vehicles

When you rent a Partner’s vehicle, the rental agreement is entered into between the Partner and you, and KORU generates and signs it on the Partner’s behalf. KORU collects payment on the Partner’s behalf, manages the booking and handles your questions and claims. The Partner is responsible for handing over the vehicle in the advertised condition.

13. Referral program

If you arrive at KORU through an affiliate’s or a referrer’s link, we store that reference for 30 days to recognize who invited you. This does not change the price you pay. Anyone who wishes to recommend Partners and earn rewards must accept the Referral Program Terms.

14. Intellectual property and user content

The KORU brand, logo, design and content of the Platform belong to KORU or its licensors. They may not be reproduced or used without written authorization.

The reviews, photographs and comments you post must be truthful and respectful. You grant us permission to display them on the Platform, and we may remove content that is false, offensive or unlawful.

15. Third-party services

The Platform uses third-party services, such as Stripe for payments, Didit for identity verification and map providers. Their use is also subject to the terms of those providers. KORU is not responsible for the content of linked external sites.

If you accept advertising cookies, the site also uses the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) to measure our advertising and show you KORU ads. What data it obtains, for what purpose and how to opt out are explained in the Privacy Notice and in the Cookie Policy.

16. Limitation of liability

KORU endeavors to ensure that the Platform operates continuously and securely, but does not guarantee that it will be free of interruptions or errors. To the extent permitted by law, KORU is not liable for indirect damages, for misuse of the vehicle by the Customer, or for failures of third-party services beyond its control.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by the Ley Federal de Protección al Consumidor (Mexican Federal Consumer Protection Law).

17. Governing law, complaints and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the federal laws of the United Mexican States. If you have a complaint, write to us at legal@korurent.com.

As a consumer, you may contact the Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (PROFECO; Mexican Federal Consumer Protection Agency). For any dispute, the parties submit to the competent courts of the city of Oaxaca, Oaxaca, unless the law applicable to consumers provides otherwise.
